The LBJ Museum of San Marcos and Texas State University will co-sponsor a free series of “Dialogues on Activism” with activists, scholars, and community, state and national leaders offering front-line reflections on motives and methods for social change.
The public is invited to attend the events at the museum, 131 N. Guadalupe Street, San Marcos on three Fridays– June 9, June 16, and June 23 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. with two dialogues presented at each event. The dialogues address Public Education, the School-to-Prison Pipeline; Restorative Justice, DREAMers, Sanctuary and Refugees, and Fight for $15.
Co-sponsoring the programs are the Texas State University Philosophy Dialogue Series; (@justicetalkTXST), the Texas State Honors College, and the Common Experience at Texas State (@TXSTCE) and the LBJ Museum of San Marcos.
The Dialogues on Activism will include:

9-10:30 a.m. First Dialogue on Public Education, Facilitator, Dr. Miguel A. Guajardo, TxState; Dr. Libby Doggett, former Deputy Assistant Secretary for Policy and Early Learning at the U.S. Department of Education; Kayla Heyward, MBA, Principal, John H. Wood Charter District, Hays Campus, and Anne Halsey, Vice President SMCISD Board of Trustees.
10:45 am – 12:15 pm: Second Dialogue on School-to-Prison Pipeline: Facilitator: Kathy Martinez-Prather, Director Texas School Safety Center, Texas State; Rima Kaikhah, Rebound Disciplinary Alternative Education Program, San Marcos CISD; Wayne Thompson, Transitional Coordinator, Hays County Juvenile Center, and Dr. Hilary Lustick, Counseling, Leadership, Adult Ed., Texas State.
