The LBJ Museum of San Marcos and Texas State University will co-sponsor a free series of “Dialogues on Activism” with activists, scholars, and community, state and national leaders offering front-line reflections on motives and methods for social change.
The public is invited to attend the events at the museum, 131 N. Guadalupe Street, San Marcos on three Fridays– June 9, June 16, and June 23 from 8:30 a.m. – 12:15 p.m. with two dialogues presented at each event. The dialogues address Public Education, the School-to-Prison Pipeline; Restorative Justice, DREAMers, Sanctuary and Refugees, and Fight for $15.
Co-sponsoring the programs are the Texas State University Philosophy Dialogue Series; (@justicetalkTXST), the Texas State Honors College, and the Common Experience at Texas State (@TXSTCE) and the LBJ Museum of San Marcos.
The Dialogues on Activism will include:

9:00 am – 10:30 am: First Dialogue on Restorative Justice: Greetings: Shannon Fitzpatrick, Attorney for Students, Texas State; Facilitator: Chase Stapp, San Marcos Police Chief; Tim Anderson, San Juan Lutheran, Austin; Karen Muñoz, Fair Chance; and Walter A. Wright, Legal Studies Program, Texas State.
10:45 am – 12:15 pm: Second Dialogue on DREAMers: Facilitator: James C. Harrington, Human Rights Attorney, Founder and Director Emeritus, Texas Civil Rights Project; Juan Belman, DREAMer Activist; and Michelle Sotolongo, Student Community of Progressive Empowerment (SCOPE), Texas State.
Later on June 16 will be a happy hour at 5 p.m. at Stonewall Warehouse, 141 E. Hopkins, featuring live music from Dr. G. and the Mudcats and Nico Hirsch.
