This is the area’s only citywide education fair for San Marcos families where information will be provided to all attendees in both Spanish and English. The goal this year is to reach all San Marcos families, especially the students and parents of Spanish-speaking households. This will provide a one-stop shopping approach to the educational services and non-profit organizations that are available to serve families in San Marcos. Education Fair participants will disseminate important educational messages and useful information to hundreds of students and their parents who live in San Marcos. They will help develop the capacity of their own non-profit organization by increasing their visibility in a community-wide event. Every organization that is selected to participate in the event is requested to have at least one Spanish speaker and an educational message at the booth. This message should contain an educational message that is valuable to parents and students in San Marcos. For instance, booth participants can ask parents or families to answer a question about nutrition, science, or a specific fact about education. The purpose is to engage families in education. The method could be, for example, to spin to answer a question, Jeopardy categories, or multiple choice questions to win a prize.
