Sponsored by the League of Women Voters of Hays County, this panel discussion is to inform citizens about this industry and try to answer the Big Question: “Do these businesses ultimately help or harm consumers?” An excellent panel of experts has been invited to help answer this question. The Moderator is local attorney Kaylene Ray, who retired last year after serving for six years as the General Counsel to the Texas Department of Banking. Panelists include Jane Hughson, San Marcos City Council Member; Yannis Banks, with Texas NAACP; Dr. Chad Chaddick, Pastor of the First Baptist Church; and Travis W. Kilpatrick, owner and CEO of Cash Box Pawn, Inc., which offers payday loans. We are trying to find a satisfied borrower who will be a part of our panel to tell their story.
