The San Marcos Area Chamber of Commerce has announced that Robert Watts, Chamber Executive Vice President, has accepted a position with the Austin Chamber of Commerce as Vice President of Member Engagement. Watts came to San Marcos in March 2009 from the Hillsboro, Texas Chamber, and helped lead efforts in Chamber operations and events and served as staff liaison to Committees and Chamber Advisory Boards such as Special Events, Governmental Affairs, and Business Development. "I will greatly miss San Marcos and the people I have gotten to know here. I have seen San Marcos and its business community grow incredibly in a number of ways just in the past five and a half years I have been here - I look forward to seeing what the future has in store" Watts said. Chamber President, Brian Bondy noted that, "Robert will truly be missed here at the Chamber and in the San Marcos community. His hard work and dedication are evident in the relationships and friendships that he has built over the past five plus years." Bondy added, "I've seen him grow and get better in this field with each passing year; Robert's the kind of person who will succeed wherever he goes." In his new capacity, Robert will serve over 3,000 Austin Chamber members in the Membership, Small Business and Marketing Division. Watts came to San Marcos in March 2009 from the Hillsboro, Texas Chamber. There will be a Farewell Open House for Robert on Friday, November 14th from 10 am to 2 pm at the Chamber's offices at 202 North CM Allen Parkway. Members and non-members are welcome. His start date with the Austin Chamber is November 17, 2014.
