The City of San Marcos Department of Development Services will host a day-long open house and series of focus group discussions regarding implementation of the Downtown Master Plan at "Making it Happen Downtown" on Thursday, Dec. 12, on the first floor of the Historic Hays County Courthouse. Downtown business and property owners, as well as the general public, are invited to view an illustrative plan of the Downtown vision and explore and discuss the following topics in detail: streetscapes, one-way or two-way traffic on LBJ and Guadalupe drives, parking management and signage. City Council members will make decisions on some of these key points that will guide future investment downtown at their regular meeting on Tuesday, Dec. 17. "With major improvements to the downtown district on the horizon, we want businesses and citizens to be familiarized with the plans, answer any questions they may have as well as explain the benefits," said Matthew Lewis, Director of Development Services. Staff members will be available to answer any questions at the event from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m., and the following focus groups are scheduled: 9 a.m. - Downtown Vision, Matthew Lewis, Development Services Director Noon - Signs and Incentives 3 p.m. - One-way, two-way streets; Streetscapes Standards 7 p.m. - Parking Coffee and refreshments will be served, and the event is free to the public.
