San Marcos residents and guests are invited to celebrate the adoption of "Vision San Marcos: A River Runs Through Us," the City's new comprehensive plan, on April 24 from 6-9 p.m. at Texas Music Theater, 120 E. San Antonio Street. The event will feature music by The Pistolsmiths and Those Nights, as well as local food. The event is free and open to the public. The San Marcos City Council approved the comprehensive plan on final reading at its April 16 meeting to the applause of meeting participants. Vision San Marcos contains the vision, goals and objectives that outline what the community wants for San Marcos from now until 2035. Plan elements cover Economic Development, Environment & Resource Protection, Land Use, Neighborhoods and Housing, Parks, Public Spaces and Facilities, and Transportation. The City Council vote culminated more than a year of community dialogue and hard work on the new Comprehensive Plan by citizens, the Comp Plan Steering Committee, Citizens Advisory Committee, Planning and Zoning Commission, City Council, staff and consultants.
