''Back-in Parking Day'' to Showcase New Reverse-Angle Parking

Reverse-angle parking is now open on a portion of Hutchison Street in downtown San Marcos, and the public is invited to test out their parking skills at a "Back-in Parking Party" from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 10, at the corner of Hutchison and LBJ drives. Back-in spaces will be reserved so that people can test out the new parking spaces. Reverse-angle parking, or back-in parking, allows drivers to back into reverse-angled spaces, providing an easier and safer exit for both drivers and bicyclists. "Because back-in parking is new to San Marcos, we want drivers to get comfortable with the experience in a low-traffic environment," said Matthew Lewis, Development Services Director.Drivers who park at the event will get an "I Backed It Up" sticker, as well as refreshments and more information about back-in parking.
