Freedom - Patriotism Independence!!! The City of San Marcos is hosting the most exciting community independence celebration along the banks of the beautiful San Marcos River. This FREE event will feature live entertainment, food booths, children's activities, children's costume competition and parade. Summerfest will be held on the grounds of San Marcos Plaza Park, same location as Sights of Sounds of Christmas. Rain or shine, festivities will begin at 6:00 p.m. with a variety of musical and family entertainment until 10:00 p.m. Admission: FREE As of January 1, 2013 - New city park land rules: Styrofoam of any kind (cups, plates, coolers, etc.) is prohibited in/on park land. Display and Consumption of alcohol is prohibited in/on parkland. Summerfest is an alcohol free event. Coolers are subject to inspection.
